In Kota Kinabalu
There is a good variety of restaurants in Sabah from Japanese, Malay, Chinese to Korean, but seafood is a must. Choose your fish, prawns or lobsters swimming around in tanks and the restaurant staff will advise you the best way to have them cooked.
And yes - there are numerous Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza and Macdonalds outlets.

Also on the Waterfront there is a very good Indian Restaurant and also an Irish Bar.
Coffee Bean Cafes serve a good selection of teas, coffees and snacks. Situated on the Waterfront, in Wisma Merdeka and at Luyang.
In Luyang
Kampong Nelyan a good seafood restaurant with cultural displays Putera - near Kampong Nelyan - a steamboat (cook your own at table) restaurant with all you can eat for a set price.
Near The Villa
This is a restaurant called Langkah Syabas owned by an Australian and is a short walk along the beach. If you miss your traditional roast Sunday lunch this is the place to eat. They serve a buffet which includes roast beef, lamb and pork with Yorkshire pudding etc.
There are also a number of good seafood places near to the villa.
